Mike Crowl has published articles, a weekly newspaper column, blog posts, and short stories. He is also as a composer of songs and piano pieces. His first book - Grimhilda! - was based on the musical of the same name he co-wrote and presented in 2012. It was published as an e-book early in 2014. Later that year it was followed by a 'sort of sequel': The Mumbersons and the Blood Secret. Between these two books for children he produced Diary of a Prostate Wimp, a non-fiction title. It's based on Crowl's experiences of having a prostate operation, with its attendant joys and woes, and has encouraged a number of men facing similar issues. Mike's third children's book, The Disenchanted Wizard, was published in February 2017, and The Counterfeit Queen was published in July 2023. Crowl has been happily married for over forty years, has five grown-up children and twelve grandchildren. Though born in Melbourne, Australia, he has lived most of his life in Dunedin, New Zealand.
